Have a question? It may be one of our common questions below. Click the question to reveal the answer.

Our goal is to be as flexible as possible in order to accommodate the needs of your company. We will operate programs seven days a week, during the daytime or evening. There are half day or full day options available. Keep in mind during the winter it gets dark early, but our Pippy Park location does have lit trails. The other parks do not have lighting, however some activities such as a campfire are suitable after dark.

This will depend on the number of people in your group and the specific activity chosen.  On average you should allow for 1-2 hours per activity.  Paddling and skiing activities will require more time due to the extra equipment and instruction.  Also, the larger your group the more time you will want to allow for competitions and transitions between activities.

What you wear will depend on the weather, season and activity.  We recommend all participants check the forecast and dress accordingly.  If you are not accustomed to being outside for long periods of time you will probably want to dress warmer then usual.  Layering is highly recommended.  If you are doing any water activities you will want to bring a full change of clothes.

The Outdoor Team is happy to run programs in any weather.  The decision to proceed with or cancel your booking is up to your company.  If you are unsure of what to do simply call us to discuss your options.  As our weather changes often, we recommend waiting until two hours before your event to make the final decision.  Cancellations for any reason other than weather must be made a minimum of five working days in advance.  The Outdoor Team reserves the right to cancel activities if conditions are unsafe.

Payment for your outing must be made in advance of your booking date.  When your booking is confirmed an invoice will be sent to your company. In the event of a weather cancellation your payment will be refunded.

Your booking includes use of the building, park, equipment and instructors.  The exact amenities will vary depending on your location.  All buildings are fully accessible.  All buildings include an eating area, kitchen and washrooms.  Cooking supplies and dishes are not provided at any of our locations.

Our Rotary Park and Pippy Park locations have small parking lots adjacent to the building.  Additional parking is available within the park.  For our Bowring Park facility all participants will be required to park in the main parking lot and walk into the building.  Transportation options may be included in your package upon request.

Groups may supply their own food or arrange for catering.  If your company choses the outdoor cooking option, food arrangements will be discussed with the Outdoor Team in advance.  Catering options may be included in your package upon request.  Alcohol is not allowed on site.

We’ve had many happy clients. Here’s what some of them have to say!
The City of St. John’s Outdoor Program provided us with a great opportunity to step outside our offices and our comfort zones. The staff were so engaging, it allowed our employees to relax and have fun while also learning new things and growing as a team. I would recommend this program to any business or organization looking to improve employee engagement and build team cohesion.

North Bank Lodge, Wow!  What a great venue to hold a function of any kind.  Staff were very accommodatable and provided great ideas to get the Vanier Elementary staff out of the classroom and into the great white outdoors.  Our staff were able to participate in an inside activity game that helped exercise our heart and our minds. We snowshoed and for those of us who were a little more adventurous, participated in an orienteering...
